July 11, 2016

The last two weekends saw the British Championships for both track and road

decided. The towy riders were represented with several riders qualifying and

competing on both weekends. The British Track omnium championships were help

at Maindy in Cardiff, which meant a little les travelling for the racers for once. The

day consisted of five different races with each region in the UK sending their best

five riders to compete for the Championship. In the under 12 support races, Iolo

Dafydd placed 4 th with Tomos Perkins in 5 th . The racing was fast and furious in the

under 14 boys with positions changing after every race. Following an attacking points

race from Evan Richards and Guto Dafydd, Evan placed 2 nd overall with Guto 7 th .

There was little doubt who the favourite was in the under 14 girls with Emma

Finucane dominating the racing taking 1 st and the title of British Track Omnium

champion. There were great rides from Amy Cole and Rosie Finucane who just

missed out on the podium.

The following weekend the Towies travelled to East London for the British Circuit

Race championships. The ciruit at Redbridge consists of the famous Hogenberg

climb that provides a fitting finish for the races. Iolo Dafydd once again represented

the Towies in the under 12’s getting in the top 10. The under 14 boys had Evan

Richards, Bryn Davies and Guto Dafydd all racing in a field of 80 riders. Guto proved

the best of the Towies with a 9 th place with both Evan and Bryn finishing in the top

20. Once again Emma Finucane proved that she is the rider on form in the under 14

girls by powering up the Hogenberg to take a clear win and become double British

champion by taking the circuit race title. Danni Parker had an excellent race taking

3 rd place on the podium with great performances from Rosie Finucane and Amy

Cole.

The Towies race closer to home this week with a double header of the Chepstow
